Yes, We Can

Hi everyone. I know it has been a while since I wrote a blog post. I’ve been very busy lately with work, and during my free time, I haven’t had the motivation to write. But, after witnessing history, and being part of it, I’ve felt some motivation to write.

This past November 4, it was the first time of me being part of an electoral process. I have to say that I was a bit nervous. I got to the voting center around 9, not much propaganda, no one talked a word about who they were going to vote, which I liked, because it showed respect to fellow voters. I stood in line for 2 hours. And as I was expecting, there was a little hiccup with my ID, since I have 2 last names, they didn’t know to which one I was under, so I had to clarify, and so I received the voting ballot.

That shit was long. The voting ballot had 4 pages of mostly things that don’t affect me. I only wanted to vote for the first one, for the presidency. After spending almost 10 minutes reading and filling the bubbles, I was done. Then I learned that I could have left options in blank.

In case you are wondering, yes, I did voted for Barack Obama. He convinced me of registering to vote, he convinced me that he is a great choice to take the biggest and most important job ever. I’ve known of Barack Obama for a long time, way before he started running. His achievements have convinced me that this is a good man to lead, and so it is, he achieved his biggest achievement yet. This is a man, which younger generations look upon. He fulfills the requirements to lead this country, to make a change. On every word, on every sentence that he speaks, you can see, hear and feel his true emotion and passion. His confidence is like no other. I haven’t been so inspired by a “stranger” ever. Obama represents what we all can be, if we believe in ourselves, when we believe in ourselves, then others believe on you. Kids, don’t stop dreaming, don’t let anyone tell what you can’t do, and if they do, prove them wrong.

For those that don’t know me well, politics is a topic that I never talk, but this thought, this post, is beyond politics, is beyond left and right, beyond Red or Blue, this post is about that tomorrow is going to be a better day, that everyone will feel better about themselves, that a positive change is possible, that anything is possible.
