Since the announcement of the new Nintendo Revolution, I said to myself that I wanted one. When I decided when gameplay and fun factor matters the most, over graphics and sound, the Revolution is the machine to have. I said that even before so called “experts” start saying the same.
Anyways, so from Revolution, now its called Wii, which I think its a lame but catchy name for a gaming console, I still wanted it. I decided not to pre-order, because I’m dumb. I also decided not to get it on launch date (11/19/2006) because I have a life, I don’t want to be on the line the night before, I have better things to do on a Saturday night like… watching movies…and talking chicks…
After all the talk on everywhere that I do my stops on the magnificent world of the Internets, they all seem to love the Wii. I had to urge to have one. So the real search for a Wii started.
Monday night (11/20/06) – I went to Target, and bam..no Wii’s. They told me that they do not know when they will get it, so I have to call every day and do a 24 hour hold of the console, which I said on my head, “Fuck that”, but verbally I said, “thats cool”.
Wednesday (11/22/06) – I got a half day work, I went to the mall to EBGames, and they told me that they will have from 5-10 consoles on Friday AKA “Black Friday”. They already have the consoles, but to make more money, they make people suffer waiting outside in the cold very early in the morning. Then I went to Best Buy and they told me that they didn’t know. At night, I went to publix to buy crap, and stopped by Gamestop, they told me the same they told me on EB Games.
Friday (11/24/06) – I wake up at 6:15AM and embark my journey to Gamestop. There was already people waiting in line for the Wii. I got there at 6:35AM. They open the stores, and they tell me that they have 6 consoles. I said “shit, I may have a chance.” As people went buying the console, the last console was sold to the person in front of me. Its one of the worst feelings. I was mad, upset, disappointed, enraged. After the bad news, this guy tells me
“Doesn’t it suck?”
- and I replied
“Indeed it sucks”
Saturday (11/25/06) – I went with Chris to Best Buy, he got a Xbox 360, which the latest update made his newly bought machine to crash, which sucked BTW (OMG, BTW, WRTFMADMAATUFUTS LOL [Oh My God, By The Way, We Read The Fucking Manual And Didn't Mention Anything About The Update Fucking Up The Console, Laugh Out Loud]) and the same luck as before, no Wii’s on Best Buy. The guy at the exit asks me “Do you got what where you looking for?” I replied “(Fuck) No!” Of course I didn’t say “Fuck”, cause its rude and there was a Police man in front of me. The Best Buy dude tells me to come back Sunday morning at 9:00AM. They had 50 consoles. I said to myself, Jackpot…
Sunday (11/26/06) – I get to Best Buy right at 9:00AM, and there was already 100 people on the line waiting for the Wii, and they already gave away the tickets for the console. I wasn’t even there for 2 minutes, I just left…disappointed.
I just give up, I will get it before the holidays. It seems Nintendo hasn’t kept up with the high demand that the Wii has had so far. I may get a 360 just for the fuck of it. Gears of War looks awesome.
Interesting tidbit. There has been over 100 Front Page Stories about the Wii on digg since its release. Talk about people loving too much their Wii’s.
