Thoughts and the Music taste of Omar. Ask me anything!

Yes, We Can

Hi everyone. I know it has been a while since I wrote a blog post. I’ve been very busy lately with work, and during my free time, I haven’t had the motivation to write. But, after witnessing history, and being part of it, I’ve felt some motivation to write.

This past November 4, it was the first time of me being part of an electoral process. I have to say that I was a bit nervous. I got to the voting center around 9, not much propaganda, no one talked a word about who they were going to vote, which I liked, because it showed respect to fellow voters. I stood in line for 2 hours. And as I was expecting, there was a little hiccup with my ID, since I have 2 last names, they didn’t know to which one I was under, so I had to clarify, and so I received the voting ballot.

That shit was long. The voting ballot had 4 pages of mostly things that don’t affect me. I only wanted to vote for the first one, for the presidency. After spending almost 10 minutes reading and filling the bubbles, I was done. Then I learned that I could have left options in blank.

In case you are wondering, yes, I did voted for Barack Obama. He convinced me of registering to vote, he convinced me that he is a great choice to take the biggest and most important job ever. I’ve known of Barack Obama for a long time, way before he started running. His achievements have convinced me that this is a good man to lead, and so it is, he achieved his biggest achievement yet. This is a man, which younger generations look upon. He fulfills the requirements to lead this country, to make a change. On every word, on every sentence that he speaks, you can see, hear and feel his true emotion and passion. His confidence is like no other. I haven’t been so inspired by a “stranger” ever. Obama represents what we all can be, if we believe in ourselves, when we believe in ourselves, then others believe on you. Kids, don’t stop dreaming, don’t let anyone tell what you can’t do, and if they do, prove them wrong.

For those that don’t know me well, politics is a topic that I never talk, but this thought, this post, is beyond politics, is beyond left and right, beyond Red or Blue, this post is about that tomorrow is going to be a better day, that everyone will feel better about themselves, that a positive change is possible, that anything is possible.

I need your help!

Thanks everyone for reading my Week In Reviews. I really appreciate the feedback from everyone on them. And thanks to all my RSS subscribers.

A few people have reached to me and have suggested ideas for future WIR. One of the ideas suggested by Ryan Harrell is…well… Ask Omar a Question. Feel free to ask me anything about any subject and I will try to answer. Examples are: how to make the perftect chocolate milk, what to do with sweat stains on shirts, how to make kick ass quesadillas, ask anything, really.

Another idea suggested by Jennifer Nam was a Dear Omar section. You have a problem, don’t know which color shirt to buy, don’t know what to do with $500 dollars that you found on the street, I will help you find the best solution for your situation.

Please ask me a question, or ask me for help, for both new sections, please. I know everyone has seen that little semi-transparent box appear when you enter the site. Press Shift+Space, then type send comment. Once you see the contact form, please write your questions there. Thanks!

Houston, we have a problem…and a solution

Today, was a sucky day for me. My car didn’t start. I had to make it to work in bike.

I haven’t ride a bike in over 7 years, and today I went 2 miles. I liked it t be honest, even though it rained on me.

Being good to people, just because being good, always is recognized by the true people that value it. I’m very appreciative of all the friends that offered me their help when I needed. Chris Fullman, called his neighbor, which is a mechanic, I told the diagnosis of what was happening and he determined it could be the battery that is low, I really hope is that. Elissa offered to pick me up if I needed to, as well as Melanie, Matias and Christina. Even Chris Jennings offered me a ride, even though he doesn’t have a car :( , but he is helping me in other ways. Thank you all.

For the second half of the year, I’m going to start working on one of my new years resolution’s, to help others. Either by doing community service or donating money, I have always wanted to do it, and hopefully I do action to make it happen. I’m now babysitting a pregnant chihuahua.

I always try to see things in a good way, no matter what.

The Week In Review is Coming really soon, I haven’t decided on the Girl Of The Week (it is the hardest part for me to choose one, every week), but for now, you MUST WATCH THE TRAILER FOR THE WATCHMEN! I started reading the graphic novel.

Shout out to Augi, relaunching his site/photo gallery/blog. Go check it out if you haven’t. His photography is candy for the eyes.
